Portia Lee James DeGeneres (also known as Portia de Rossi) is a popular Australian and American actress, model, and an philanthropist. At the age of 15 she legally changed her name to her Italian title "de Rossi" which was glamorous. Her name was changed to "Portia" of Shakespeare's production of The Merchant of Venice. Portia claims that this is the most courageous decision she's ever made. It was her struggle with sexuality spurred her to change her name. Portia was introduced to film by appearing in the romantic-comedy comedy film "Sirens," in which she starred alongside Hugh Grant. Portia is a star in numerous American television films, such as "Too Something," "Nick Freno's Licensed Teacher and Arrested Development", and Better Off Ted.
